Open Letter to Sen. Chuck Schumer,
Dear Sen. Schumer, I beg you to change your mind. I have never been as disappointed and angry with a Democratic Party leader as I am with you and your intention to vote in favor of the GOP spending bill. That’s saying a lot because I am 75 years old and have worked with the Party since 1966 as a teenager to register voters. I have marched, rallied, protested, testified, voted, phone banked, canvassed, and donated. I have done my job as a citizen. It’s time for you to do yours.
Your job in the Senate is to advance the Democratic Party’s values expressed in our platform, a grassroots-up document. We are FRUSTRATED that our elected officials do not seem to care that Trump, Musk and the GOP are ripping our country to shreds. All you do is ring your hands and whine. I see no evidence of a plan. Grow a spine! Be outraged! Care more for us than for re-election (of yourself and other Democrats.) Why is there no sense of urgency? Why do you not take every opportunity to counter what Trump is doing? Why are you not building on what is happening in the streets? Do you not understand that there will be no midterm elections if you don’t use every possible tool to fight back? From what I can tell, only Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders, AOC and couple of others seem to understand that this is going to be over in 3-6 months.
Do you not understand that the GOP spending bill is the fuel to drive Project 2025? If you vote for this bill you are signing onto that project, those values. You will be helping to destroy the United States of America. That sir would make you a coward, and worse.
