Tony Beaverson prepares for the gavel to fall convening the 2008 Texas Democratic Party State Convention. Killer Ds take to the stage during the convention, joining hands in unity and vowing to turn Texas Blue in November 2008. Matt Krov and Heather Molsbee, Obama and Clinton supporters respectively, show off the much-sought party unity as delegates in Senate District 30. Democrats respond during their convention to Rick Noriega speech. An interpreter "signs" the National Anthem. Following a 27-year career as a journalist, and three years as a legal assistant researcher, I am now at least temporarily retired.
After several years volunteering to help victims of natural disasters return to a new normal after tragedy strikes, I now work to elect officials who will act to reverse the climate change that causes the disasters. Perhaps more importantly I fight to elect those who understand the right for all peop le of the U.S. and the world to health care, sufficient food, housing, education, safety and freedom. I am bent toward the progressive, not an easy curve for one who worked for a small daily newspaper in conservative North Texas. I earned a reputation for fair and accurate reporting by subscribing to the golden rule.
I hope to continue this blog as a means to press for progressive thinking and problem solving.
While not persuing my political goals, I relish spending time with my two amazing, talented daughters, a wonderful son-in-law and four brilliant grandchildren and my extraordinary siblings.
